Spring is right around the corner, and with it brings a busy performance season for artists and companies in the Cleveland area. March is full of opportunities to see and take part in the dance community. Have a look at many of the great works and auditions taking place this month!

GroundWorks Dance Theatre

GroundWorks will be at The University of Akron on March 4th and 5th and The Breen Center on March 18th and 19th! The company will be showing two works: Tan Dun's Ghost Opera and The World Premier by guest artist Loni Landon. Verb Ballets

Neos Dance Theatre

A Knight's Night - Media and Movement: March 11th

If you are interested in looking through a daring and technology-driven lens at dance, this is the event for you. This exciting collaboration uses the talents of Emmy Award-winning artist Andy Gardner, Neos Dance Theatre, and many local residents to create an immersive multimedia experience. A small disclaimer, though: the performance is rated PG13, so you might want to leave the young kids at home. Cleveland Ballet

Cleveland Ballet and Music for Our Children Collaborative Benefit Performance: March 13th

In a move to help children around the world, Cleveland Ballet will be performing with the Music for Our Children project to support UNICEF. The company will be performing Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky with Ralitsa Georgieva-Smith and Sophie Van Der Westhuizen on piano. The Movement Project

SPACES: April 2nd

Though not in March, this performance is coming up quick! TMP is happy to announce this unconventional performance in a gallery space. Not only will TMP show work but Cleveland artists from all over the area will also be presenting work of their own, performed live gallery-style! Patrons will get the chance to walk around SPACES and see the creative minds of TMP, Rebecca Burcher, Lauren Holler, Kora Radella, Lindsay Phillips, Micaela Colleen Barrett and Alberto Ramos Cordero, Marcia Custer and Alec Schumann, Jennifer Sandoval-Eccher, Grace Nicklos, Alexandra Tsubota, and Falon Baltzell. ATA with Talise Campbell: March 6th and 13th

TMP's Artists Teaching Artist series continues with African Dance! Talise Campbell, a graduate of the Cleveland School of Arts, performed with the Imani African American Dance Company, Iroko Drum and Dance Society, and is the Artistic Director and choreographer of Djapo Cultural Arts Institute. She teaches at the Cleveland School of the Arts, Open Doors Academy, Cuyahoga Community College, Case Western Reserve, and Cleveland State University, to name a few. The class will center on Traditional West African Dance and cover technique, history, and music! Summer Intensive Tour: Pre-Professional Track Auditions: March 6th at Mookie's Academy of Dance and March 18th at Martell School of Dance

On March 12th, TMP will be hosting an audition for our summer intensive's Pre-Professional Track at Mookie's Academy of Dance in Port Clinton, Ohio.

On March 18th, TMP will be hosting an audition for the Pre-Professional Track at Martell School of Dance in Akron, Ohio.

Both of these auditions are FREE, and this gives students an opportunity to take class with a professional company! This Pre-Professional Track is for ages 12-18, and is a great way to build technique, meet professional artists and build connections, as well as learn about dance in a professional setting!

On March 12th, TMP will be hosting an audition for our summer intensive's Professional Track at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

On March 13th, TMP will be hosting an audition for the Professional Track at Baldwin Wallace University.

Both of these auditions are FREE and an excellent chance to take class with The Movement Project! Our summer intensive was a success last year, and this year we are making it bigger and better! This Professional Track is for dancers 18+ and offers a great setting to further your own personal artistic goals, as well as technique, choreography, resume revamp, dance on film, and more!
