OUR COMMITMENT

The Movement Project’s new program, Space Connect, is part of our commitment to equity & access, leveraging our unique resources to further support sustainable practices for dance artists in NE Ohio.

This program is made possible by Ohio Arts Council.

SPACE CONNECT RESIDENCIES

TMP will offer 208 total hours of free Space Connect Residencies to Northeast Ohio based dance artists who self-identify with communities including, but not limited to; women, nonbinary and gender non-conforming individuals, people with disabilities, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, Indigenous peoples, people of a lower socio-economic status, people 60 years or older, and neurodivergent individuals.

January - May, 2025, we will hold 2 rounds of residencies, welcoming artists to request up to 16 free dance studio hours.

Prior to each round (see dates below), requests for residency slots will open and be filled on a first come, first served basis, upon TMP staff approval. Artists can only be awarded 1 residency from January - May, 2025.
Space use is intended for artists in need of independent/group rehearsal space and creative time/exploration. (All artists requesting space and any artists joining them during their residency must be 18 years or older. No exceptions).
Residencies are located at TMP’s studio in Fairview Park (21547 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126)

ROUND 1: January 13th - March 31st, 2025

7 residency spots (up to 16 hours each residency)

REQUEST FORM OPENS: DECEMBER 12TH AT 8:00 AM

(Form closes 12/27 at 5:00 pm or until residencies are filled)

Artists will be notified no later than 12/30 on their status. For artists selected, TMP will hold a 30 minute mandatory virtual orientation on Sunday January 5th from 12:00 - 12:30 pm (If this time does not work for you please let us know)

ROUND 2: April 1st - May 31st, 2025

6 residency spots (up to 16 hours each residency)

REQUEST FORM OPENS: MARCH 3RD AT 8:00 AM

ROUND 2 REQUEST FORM

(Form closes 3/21 at 5:00 pm or until residencies are filled)

Artists will be notified no later than 3/24 on their status. For artists selected, TMP will hold a 30 minute mandatory virtual orientation on Sunday March 30th from 12:00 - 12:30 pm (If this time does not work for you please let us know)

USE REQUIREMENTS

All who enter the space must be 18 years or older. No exceptions.
Please only socks, bare-feet or soft sole dance shoes (no tap, street shoes, heels or sharp objects) in the studio space.
Keep music at a reasonable volume.
Only water can be taken into the dance space. (No other food or drinks are permitted in the studio)
No rosin can be used (our marley dance floor is specific to ballet/point and barefoot).
All using the space must adhere to all space use requirements, which will be outlined in orientation.
