The Movement Project’s 2nd annual CDF | Akron Concert Series is set to return May 2nd & 3rd, 2025 at the beautiful The Linda B. Kersker Auditorium at Firestone Community Learning Center!
Northeast Ohio’s dance companies and artists are coming together to present 2 evenings of new works, highlighting the next generation of choreographers. Inlet Dance Theatre, Dancing Wheels Company, Ohio Contemporary Ballet, Mojuba! Dance Collective, Dominic Moore-Dunson/Theron Brown & Artists, and The Movement Project are making a commitment to ensure that dance thrives through the next generation of choreographers, looking internally to support the artists within our ranks, as well as share the stage with our 2025 Choreographic Fellow, Christine Howe, and our pre-professional guest artists from Akron School for the Arts at Firestone CLC and Miller South School for Visual and Performing Arts.
THE HISTORY OF CDF AND HOW WE ARRIVED HERE: Over the past 9 seasons, TMP has presented Cleveland Dance Fest (CDF), a 3-day festival featuring artists from Cleveland, across Ohio, the regional Midwest, and beyond, serving each year over 600+ patrons, 150+ professional artists, and 100+ pre-professional artists in performances, master classes, and a virtual dance film gallery. Through the years, CDF funding partners have fueled our ability to maximize artist support, allowing us to pay over $54,500 towards artists since CDF’s inaugural year. As we continue to look to the future of dance in Northeast Ohio, we are committed to supporting the communities we serve, specifically Akron. CDF | Akron Concert Series is an extension of the CDF platform, as we continue to expand artist resource support throughout NE Ohio.
CDF | Akron Concert Series inaugural year in 2024 included performances by Inlet Dance Theatre, Dancing Wheels Company, Ohio Contemporary Ballet, GroundWorks DanceTheatre, The Movement Project, and 2024 Choreographic Fellow Matthew Roberts of Frtrss Dance Theatre.
