CITY BALLET OF CLEVELAND is a nonprofit, pre-professional company residing at Cleveland CityDance on Shaker Square. The Company has been performing since the mid-90s and is committed to building a professional resident classical ballet company in the future and to retain local talent in Cleveland. In 2013 the Company received its first grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. This vibrant and versatile company of dancers excels through dedication, self-discipline and love for the art of dance. Focused and energetic, these dancers are given unique opportunities to work with guest instructors, choreographers, and professional dancers. Company dancers serve as dance arts ambassadors wherever they perform. The Company continues performing at the All Ohio Dance Festival and local schools and senior facilities. Many dancers while in the ensemble have also performed with professional companies including Pennsylvania Ballet’s Nutcracker, Kirov Ballet’s La Bayadere and American Ballet Theatre’s Le Corsaire. Company members have attended summer intensive workshops at American Ballet Theater, School of American Ballet (SAB), Ballet Met, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Harid Conservatory, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ben Stevenson Academy, Julliard Dance, the Rock School, and San Francisco Ballet among many others. Our alumni are now dancing with professional companies, such as Diana Yohe of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, who continues to return as a guest artist. http://cityballetofcleveland.org
DIANNA DURKIN DANCE STUDIO, located in the City of Green, has been teaching dance since 1960. All classes are taught by qualified dance professionals who use a non-competitive approach to dance, while making classes fun and interesting for dancers of all ages. Our goals are to teach our students how to develop movement skills, musicality, and creativity, become responsive listeners, a strong dance foundation and to develop an appreciation for the art form. We believe that dance improves their health, well being and learning ability.
